American PLF is not built to serve political parties or special interests. It is built to ensure that government remains accountable to the people it was created to represent.

The American Public Leadership Standard exists to strengthen representative democracy by defining, promoting, and recognizing the qualities of exceptional public leadership. We believe that while Americans will always hold different political views, they can still share common expectations for those who seek public office. Integrity, transparency, accountability, competence, and service to others are not partisan values. They are the foundation of effective leadership.

Our mission is not to influence what candidates believe. Our mission is to help voters better understand how candidates lead. Through a voluntary leadership standard, independent assessment, and ongoing accountability, we seek to elevate public trust by encouraging leaders to demonstrate the character, judgment, and commitment necessary to serve the American people with honor.
